India celebrates 75th Independence Day

(VOVWORLD) -India on Monday celebrated its 75th Independence Day, August 15, at the Red Fort in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this is a historic day for India as the country is advancing on a new path with a new determination.

In his 82-minute address to the nation, the Indian leader laid out a broad direction for the country's development over the next 25 years. "For the next 25 years we need to focus on the five resolves - developed India, removing every trace of bondage from our mind, taking pride in our glorious heritage, unity, and fulfilling our duties," he said.
On this occasion, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a congratulatory message to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue sent congratulatory messages to Speaker of the Senate Jagdeep Dhankhar and Speaker of the House of Representatives Om Birla. Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son congratulated Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
