(VOVWORLD) - National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, India’s Special Representative, will meet his Chinese counterpart to discuss boundary issues between the two countries in the coming days.
Date of the meeting has not been confirmed. The information came a day after India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surprise visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh amid clashes between Chinese and Indian troops.
The two representatives last met on December 21, 2019 in New Delhi, India. It was agreed then “that an early settlement of the boundary question serves the fundamental interests of both countries.”
Beginning on Sunday (July 5), the verification process of whether the Chinese have removed structures, as agreed, at Galwan Valley would start. In the June 30 meeting, the two sides decided to verify the de-escalation at all the friction points.
