The laser fences are being developed by India's Border Security Force to plug all unfenced stretches in Punjab state of Northwestern India. Laser fences are also being put up along stretches of the border in the disputed Kashmir region.
The plan was made following a deadly attack on an Indian air force base in Pathankot, Punjab state, on January 2nd that left 7 soldiers dead. All four attackers were killed after a 14-hour-gunbattle with Indian forces. India accused Pakistan-based group Jaish-e-Mohammad of carrying out the assault.
