India to ban Tiktok permanently
(VOVWORLD) - India has sent notices to Chinese apps including TikTok, making the interim ban on these apps now permanent.
The Indian government had earlier imposed an interim ban on TikTok and many other Chinese apps in the country to "safeguard the interests of millions of Indian mobile and internet users."
The move followed tensions between India and China along the border in Eastern Ladakh. Other apps that are banned include popular multiplayer game PUBG and search engine Baidu.
Citing these apps as security threats, India uses the Information Technology Act and IT Rules 2009 to block them.
