(VOVWORLD) -Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday to discuss the crisis in Ukraine.

Modi reiterated his call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and said Russia and Ukraine should return to dialogue and diplomacy to find a lasting solution to their differences. He pledged India’s support for all peace efforts and said India is committed to continuing its humanitarian assistance for the Ukrainian people.
President Zelensky asked for India's support for his "peace formula", which he proposed during a virtual address at the recent G20 summit in Bali.
The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including favorable conditions for Indian students to return to Ukraine.
