(VOVworld) - The first Batu International Islamic Tourism Festival took place this weekend in Batu city, Indonesia, to promote Islamic culture and art and the image and tourism potential of Batu, which has been called a “Little Switzerland in Java”. The event attracted diplomatic representatives from Ukraine, Vietnam, Pakistan, China, Bahrain, and the Czech Republic.

The festival was hosted by local authorities, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) - the biggest Islamic organization in Batu - and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Participants’ cultural and tourism exhibits showcased cultural diversity and integration.
