Industrial production index increases in 55 localities
(VOVWORLD) - In the first 5 months of this year the index of industrial production (IIP) increased in 55 out of 63 provinces and cities compared to the same period last year. Industrial production in May rose 3.9% over April and 8.9% over 2023. In the January-May period, Vietnam’s IIP rose 6.8% over the same period last year.

Relatively high indexes were reported in the provinces of Phu Tho (31%), Bac Giang (25%) and Binh Phuoc (14.8%). According to the General Statistics Office, the high index in some localities was attributed to the growth of the processing and manufacturing industries and electricity production and distribution.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is accelerating the progress of institutional improvement, promoting disbursement of public investment capital, and soon putting into operation key projects on electricity, oil and gas, processing industry, manufacturing, and minerals.
Localities are urged to enhance promotional programs to increase people’s purchasing power and expand the domestic market while industries need to organize exhibitions to connect supply and demand and help businesses find partners and expand their markets.
