Innovations, digital transformation should lead post-COVID recovery: experts
(VOVWORLD) - Post-COVID growth should be driven by innovation and digital transformation, a Vietnam Institute of Economics seminar on Tuesday suggested.
Experts at the Vietnam Institute of Economics seminar on January 19, 2021, suggest that post-COVID recovery should be driven by innovation and digital transformation. |
Participants agreed that though some sectors were gravely affected by COVID-19, the domestic economy grew strongly thanks to the Government’s efforts of fighting the pandemic and ironing out difficulties faced by businesses. As a result, Vietnam was one of a few countries to enjoy positive growth in 2020.
“2021 is very important as it is the first year of the socio-economic development program until 2025 and the socio-economic development strategy until 2030. A review of Vietnam’s economy in 2020 will provide valuable lessons to ensure rapid, quality, and sustainable growth in the future,” said Bui Nhat Quang, Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
Ly Dai Hung of the Vietnam Institute of Economics said, “We have devised 3 scenarios for Vietnam’s growth this year. In general, Vietnam’s economy is forecast to expand 5.49% in 2021.”
