International mediator Kofi Annan on Friday strongly condemned the atrocities in the central village of Treimsa, Hama province, Syria killing more than 150 people. According to some other resources, the number of deaths reaches over 200. In a statement, Annan voiced shock at the “intense fighting, significant casualties, and the confirmed use of heavy weaponry such as artillery, tanks and helicopters.” This is the third massacre in Syria and the second in Hama province over the past two months. The two previous mass murder were in Houla village in late May and in al-Kubeir in early June killing and wounding hundreds. The same day, China also raised objection to the Treimsa massacre and called on parties involved in Syria to jointly outline practical measures and implement the commitment to stopping violence. A spokesperson for France stressed on a hard measure together with sanction imposed by the UN Security Council. The French spokesperson said the tragedy in Hama affirms the need that the Syrian Government must do something towards stopping violence.
