UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called the attack an act of “horror and rank cowardice” on “defenseless children who were studying.” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein has called for a united front against “savage extremism.” Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu announced a day of mourning for the victims.
The governments of Iran, Albania, Australia, the UK, Algeria, the Philippines, and China denounced the attack and conveyed their condolences to the government and people of Pakistan. Even a terrorist ally—the Afghan Taliban—has denounced the terrorist attack. Spokesman for the terrorist group Zabihullah Mujahid said Wednesday “the intentional killing of innocent people, children, and women are against the basics of Islam and this criterion has to be considered by every Islamic party and government.”
