Workshop discussions focused on the demand for chip design engineers, essential skills for chip design engineers, getting international cooperation to develop a chip design workforce, opportunities for Vietnamese chip design engineers to access leading technologies, and opportunities for Vietnam to participate in the global value chain of the semiconductor industry.

Mr. Raymond Teh, Vice President of NVIDIA Corporation, said: “Last December, I brought our CEO Jensen Huang to Vietnam. He left Vietnam speechless. He was so impressed with the hospitality of the Vietnamese government. He also saw young population of Vietnam having tremendous software skills. And NVIDIA committed to make Vietnam our second home in Asia. We are committed to invest in Vietnam in an R&D center to take advantage of the software skills that are in Vietnam.”

A representative of the National Innovation Center (NIC) said Vietnam needs to invest in developing a high-quality workforce for the semiconductor sector, both to keep pace with global technology trends and to establish a position in the semiconductor industry’s value chain. NIC will continue to play a crucial role in connecting and promoting Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem, and particularly its AI and semiconductor ecosystems, by operating and expanding the Vietnam Innovation Network and training a workforce for the semiconductor industry.
