(VOVworld) – An international seminar on maritime development and security opened in Ha Long city on Thursday. The event, organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, drew scholars and researchers from the EU, Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, and other ASEAN countries.

Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy said: “Maritime security has become an important and urgent issue. But risks from conflicts and hot spots at sea have increased, threatening cooperation and trust between nations in protecting security and maritime space. We need more cooperative efforts and discussions like this to put forth recommendations to governments and residential communities all over the world concerning risks and the need to cooperate to address them.”
