“Invest in Vietnam”, PM tells foreign businesses

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has described the Vietnam Business Summit 2017 as an excellent opportunity for foreign investors to get a comprehensive insight into Vietnam’s economy and development policies and expand investment and business partnerships with the country.

The Summit opened in Da Nang city on Tuesday as part of the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week. Mr. Phuc said that the success of the renewal process over the past 30 years has attracted foreign investors to Vietnam.

“We’re resolved to build a facilitating government of action serving the people and businesses. Vietnam will continue to push up international integration, maintain macro-economic stability, promote institutional reform and sustainable development, generate more jobs and improve people’s income,” he stressed.  

Prime Minister Phuc revealed Vietnam’s future development orientations which include improving institutions, enhancing the rule of law, encouraging the private economy, improving state capacity, stabilizing the macro-economy, and bridging income disparity. He reiterated Vietnam’s commitments to entrepreneurship, intellectual property, and tax reform.

The Vietnam Business Summit will become an annual event in Vietnam, starting from 2017.

On the sidelines of the 2017 summit, Prime Minister Phuc met World Bank Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific Victoria Kwakwa and World Economic Forum Managing Director Philipp Rosler. Mr. Phuc also received representatives of the National Center for APEC (NCAPEC), the US business association focused exclusively on facilitating private sector engagement in APEC. NCAPEC President Monica Whaley praised the investment climate in Vietnam and expressed her wish to carry out long-term business in the country.
