Politicians have voiced against demonstrations and violence, but some called on Rouhani to address the protestors’ economic concerns. The Iranian Parliament has taken steps to dismiss financial policies that Rouhani announced last month, including reducing social security expenses and raising fuel prices.
Pro-government rallies have been taking place in Iran for several days, after last week’s protests against the government. Iranian state television showed video of crowds marching across 10 cities, including Isfahan, Ardebil, and Mashhad, from which the protests originated.
