Iran, P5+1 enter new round of nuclear talks

(VOVworld) – Iran and the P5+1 group (5 permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) began a new 5-day round of nuclear talks on Monday to work out the last details of the final deal. Prior to this, Iran held bilateral meetings with almost all group members, except the US and China, to reduce their differences.

Iran’s chief negotiator, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, said that all parties have shown goodwill to reach the final agreement. However, disagreements still remain around the structure of the Arak heavy water reactor, uranium enrichment program, and the removal of sanctions imposed by the US and the West. Iran and the P5+1 expect to reach a long-term deal on Iran’s controversial nuclear program by July.
