The warning follows a tense encounter in the Gulf between Iranian Coast Guard vessels and US Navy ships.

The statement urged Americans to follow international regulations and maritime protocols in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman and refrain from any “adventurism” or “fake stories”.

Iran sees any action by foreigners in the region as a potential threat to Iran’s national security and promises that any error in calculation on their part will receive a decisive response, said the statement.

Last week, the US military said 11 small fast IRGCN boats came very close to its ships in the Gulf, near Kuwait, and called the incident “dangerous and provocative”. The Revolutionary Guard acknowledged the incident, but insisted that the US provoked the tense encounter, without providing any details.
