(VOVworld) - Iraqi forces said Tuesday they have recaptured the Mosul train station, the latest advance in the operation to drive ISIS militants out of Mosul.

The railroad is a main north-south corridor of Iraq and a major route for goods from Turkey and Syria to Baghdad and Basra.

Iraqi forces launched an offensive to retake Mosul last October and have liberated the eastern half of the city.
