(VOVworld) – Iraqi special forces recaptured the State Television building in Mosul on Tuesday, capping a 2-week operation to liberate Mosul from the Islamic State.

Lieutenant General Talib Shaghati said this shows the battle to liberate Mosul has been effective. Iraqi troops, Shi'ite militias, and Kurdish peshmerga have been advancing on several fronts toward Mosul, backed by US-led troops and air forces. Special forces units sweeping in from the east have made the fastest progress.
