IS fighters armed with assault rifles and rocket launchers attacked
civilian and military vehicles carrying soldiers near Rutba, 390 km from
Baghdad, in Anbar province near the Jordanian border.
According to the mayor
of Rutba, Imad al-Dulaimi, three other members of the security forces are
missing. Border guards and other security forces stationed in the area have
been routinely attacked by IS in recent months.
