In his address, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said: “Extensive international integration is the correct policy but we need to prepare for challenges at the outset, because our economy is not yet strong enough and we have a still nascent scientific capacity and economic potential.  To address these problems, we need to strengthen  agricultural restructuring toward concentrated production, developing our strongest products, applying science and technology, while reorganizing production, and increasing international cooperation.”

World Bank Director in Vietnam Ousmane Dione said that Vietnam needs to take more efforts to improve its competitiveness, adding that the World Bank will support Vietnam to develop sustainable material regions and increase processing capacity and market approach for agricultural products.
