(VOVWORLD) - Israel and Greece have signed their biggest ever defense procurement deal, the Israeli Defense Ministry said on Sunday.
The agreement includes a 1.6 billion-USD contract for the establishment and operation of a training center for the Hellenic Air Force over a 22-year period. The center will be modelled on Israel's own flight academy.
The contract is part of a bilateral defense cooperation agreement, which Israel Defense Minister Benny Gantz said, will help improve defense capabilities and boost the economies of Israel and Greece, thereby deepening the two countries’ partnership in defense, economics, and politics.
