(VOVWORLD) - Tens of thousands of Israelis on Saturday took to the streets to call on the government to quickly reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip to free more than 130 hostages.

The protests mainly occurred in big cities, such as Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beer Sheva, Haifa, and Caesarea. Many people believe that only a ceasefire will help more hostages be released.
The wave of protests has increased since last weekend in many localities in Israel as over the last 3 months almost no more hostages had been released. Israel finds itself under more international opposition, including from the US, its close ally after a series of recent developments on the battlefield and political arena.
