(VOVworld) – The Italian coastguard rescued more than 2,000 migrants on Monday in 19 rescue operations off the Libyan coast. 8 bodies were found on migrant boats.

The Italian coastguard, the Italian Navy, the European Naval Force Mediterranean (EUNAVFOR MED), and non-governmental organizations’ boats have been continuing to search for migrants from Libya to Italy. Over the last two weeks, Italy has rescued more than 20,000 migrants off the coast of Libya, half of them Africans.
