(VOVWORLD) - The Japanese government said Tuesday that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is considering a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Tokyo considers the meeting important towards settling the issues of abduction of Japanese citizens in the 1970s and 1980s.
South Korea’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) is preparing direct meetings with their North Korean counterparts if meetings between North Korea, South Korea, and the US are organized as agreed.
