(VOVworld)- The House of Representatives of Japan selected Tadamori Oshima as its new chairman on Tuesday after Nobutaka Machimura resigned.

Oshima, 68, chairman of the lower house's Budget Committee, was chosen as Machimura's successor at a plenary session. Former Chief Cabinet Secretary Takeo Kawamura of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will replace Oshima as the Budget Committee chairman.

Newly-appointed lower house chairman, Tadamori Oshima is now responsible for monitoring an election amendments committee.
