(VOVworld) – Japan pledges to expand cooperation with Vietnam in agriculture and fishing, said Japan’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Yoshimasa Hayashi while receiving Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh in Tokyo on Friday. He said Japan will support Vietnam in increasing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products, catching tuna, and building fishing vessels and fishery surveillance ships.
Earlier on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh met with Akihiko Tanaka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Takahashi Kyohei, chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Economic Committee, and Satoshi Miyamoto, President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
Ninh voiced his hope that JICA will consult with the Japanese government to maintain ODA for Vietnam, and called on Japanese businesses to expand in Vietnam.
In his meeting with Takahashi Kyohei, he hoped the committee and the Keidanren, the main Japanese business federation, will continue to support Vietnam’s development.
Ninh asked JETRO to facilitate Japanese business operations in Vietnam and support Vietnamese SMEs, especially in the auxiliary industry.
