Broadcaster NHK reported that voters across the country went to the polls to elect 500 deputies among 866 candidates to the 15th National Assembly on Sunday. Voters wore masks, disinfected their hands, and had their temperatures checked before casting their ballots.

The same day, Kyodo News agency said Vietnam held its once-in-five-years parliamentary election while taking precautions to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus amid a spike in new cases. Polling stations have taken strict precautions such as temperature checks, physical distancing, and wearing masks. More than 69 million voters cast their ballots and the results will be announced by mid-June.
