(VOVworld) – US Secretary of State John Kerry was forced to cut short his Europe trip after he broke his leg Sunday due to a bike accident in France.

He will return to the US for treatment in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Kerry, 71, had been scheduled to fly to Madrid on Sunday afternoon for an official visit there. He was then set to travel to Paris for a meeting on Tuesday of foreign ministers to discuss the crisis in Syria and the fight against the Islamic State.
