(VOVWORLD) -31,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed since Russia began its special military operation into Ukraine two years ago, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky told a press conference on Sunday in Kyiv.

This is the first time in more than a year that Ukraine has announced official death toll of soldiers. However Mr. Zelensky refused to give figures of the wounded and missing.
At the press conference, President Zelensky said Ukraine planned a new counterattack against Russian forces, and that a major military reform, which led to the replacement of the head of the Ukrainian army this month, is associated with new action plans on the battlefield.
