Paving the way for the current cabinet to continue working, a new government is formed. Previously, the Kyrgyzstan government had resigned after President Almazbek Atambayev's Social Democratic party quit the ruling majority coalition. The Social Democratic party, the biggest party in parliament, broke with its coalition partners due to conflicts over the November referendum on constitutional reforms. According to Kyrgyz law, within the next 3 days, the President has to address one of the other parties in the Parliament to establish the new coalition and form the new government. Observers say three parties in the previous coalition, including the Kyrgyzstan Social Democratic Party, the Kyrgyzstan Party, and the Ata-Zurt Republic Party, with more than half the members in the Parliament, will establish the new coalition, and the components of the new government will remain almost unchanged.
