Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, a NA deputy of Binh Dinh province, said that as climate change is increasing the risk of drought and a lack of fresh water, it’s necessary to outline a scenario to regulate water resource use.
“The compiling committee needs to develop response scenarios for water resources to serve urban water supplies in the context of climate change,” said Thuy, adding, “The scenarios should be developed for urban areas affected by saltwater intrusion and other negative impacts of climate change. It’s important to strictly control waste discharge into water sources and develop scenarios for water resource crises.”
NA deputies underscored the importance of having more specific regulations on the application of science and technology in the management, protection, exploitation, and use of water resources, and the prevention of harmful effects caused by water.
