(VOVWORLD) -The painting La famille dans le jardin (Family in a garden) by Vietnamese artist Le Pho was auctioned at the Sotheby’s Hong Kong auction house on Wednesday.

The ink and gouache on silk painting may fetch over 1 million USD, according to art researchers.
La famille dans le jardin was created in 1937, when Le Pho resettled in France until his passing in 2001 and conveyed his longing for homeland.
La famille dans le jardin was auctioned once in 1999 at Christie’s Singapore auction house. The painting resurfaced at Sotheby’s on the auction house’s 50th anniversary alongside other big names in Asia such as Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita, Sanyu, Cheong Soo Pieng, Vu Cao Dam, Wu Guanzhong, Liu Kuo-Sung, Fernando Zóbel, and Affandi, plus international artists like Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, and Pablo Picasso.
