LNG production - inevitable trend in Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - LNG production development is an inevitable trend in Vietnam to diversify its sources of energy generation for energy security. Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh was addressing the LNG Producer Consumer Conference in Tokyo on Thursday.
He said the Vietnamese government has initiated policies to increase the use of clean and renewable energy for economic growth. Vietnam is expected to import 5 million tons of LNG in 2025 and upto 15 million tons by 2035. Vietnam has developed a network of terminals for LNG imports and fine-tune its legal framework to facilitate LNG project investment. During his working visit to Japan, the Minister met Japanese Trade Minister Isshu Sugawara and Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party at the Diet, Hiroshige Seko. The Minister called for Japan’s bigger role in the negotiation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and support in Vietnam’s implementation of the deal.
