(VOVWORLD) -Sea and Island Tourism Week 2023, themed “Ly Son - Wonders of the sea and islands”, was launched on Wednesday in Quang Ngai province.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Quang Ngai is becoming an attractive tourist destination thanks to its blue sea, white sand, and museums of geological, archaeological, cultural, and historical heritages.
“Quang Ngai province has made the development of sea and island tourism its priority, with Ly Son as the center of a development quadrilateral comprising Ly Son, Binh Son, My Khe, and Sa Huynh,” said Dung.
He added Quang Ngai will concentrate on effectively tapping sea and island tourism resources to create high-end tourism products and large-scale entertainment complexes.
“Cultural development and geo-tourism will be made the focus of our unique tourism products. Ecotourism will be the foundation of our sustainable development,” according to Dung.
Activities being held include an Open Women's Beach Volleyball Tournament, a traditional boat racing festival, and a display of products and cuisine, as well as documents, artifacts, and photos featuring Ly Son as a Sea and Island cultural heritage.
A national paragliding championship, a track and field tournament, and a maritime swimming meet will take place to celebrate May 19, the 133th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.
