The satellite is expected to be launched into orbit at an altitude of about 560 km from the Uchinoura Space Center in Japan’s Kagoshima prefecture later this year.

NanoDragon, which is fully designed and manufactured in Vietnam, is part of the development roadmap of "Made in Vietnam" small satellites of Vietnam Space Center to implement the "Development and application of space science and technology to 2030" approved by the Prime Minister in February, 2021.

The NanoDragon satellite, a nano-layer cubesat satellite which weighs 4kg kilograms, was developed by the Vietnam National Space Center.  This satellite is designed to integrate an automatic identification system (AIS) used for tracking and monitoring vessels at sea. It will also make use of an optical imaging device in order to verify the quality of the satellite posture controller while operating in orbit.
