Mainland China and Taiwan agree to open representative office

(VOVworld) - Chinese President Xi Jinping and Taiwanese leader Ma Ying Jeou had a historic meeting in Singapore on Saturday, the first between leaders of both sides since 1949. They had a one-hour talk mostly focusing on peace and cross-strait cooperation. President Xi called for orientations towards future relations while Mr Ma expected both sides to expand dialogues and cooperation for people’s benefit. President Xi hoped that both sides will set up representative offices as early as possible.
