Major countries partner with Vietnam to deliver on net-zero emissions goals
(VOVWORLD) - Leaders from Vietnam and the International Partners Group, including the EU, the UK, France, Germany, the US, Italy, Canada, Japan, Norway, and Denmark, agreed on Wednesday to establish the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

This partnership will help Vietnam deliver on its ambitious goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 and transition away from fossil fuels to clean energy. An initial 15.5 billion USD in public and private financing will be mobilized over the next three to five years to support Vietnam’s green transition.
Vietnam is the third country to establish a JETP, following South Africa and Indonesia.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said Viet Nam is pioneering a new framework of collaboration to deliver a fair, inclusive energy transition toward renewables.
US President Joe Biden said Vietnam has demonstrated leadership in charting an ambitious clean energy transition that will deliver long-term energy security. He added that Vietnam’s historic commitment will catalyze investment and economic growth and advance the fight against the global climate crisis.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada will continue to be a committed partner for the clean energy transition and coal phase-out in Viet Nam, which is in everyone's best interest for an inclusive, clean energy future in the Indo-Pacific region.
