The Summit will be attended by representatives of ASEAN, together with the US, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. India’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anil Wadha, said the countries needed to resolve the unsettled maritime conflict in the Asia-Pacific region quickly through dialogue and based on international law. He said India protested the use, or threatened use, of violence to deal with the conflict and was committed to maintaining maritime and aviation freedom to assure trade activities continue, and access to natural resources in international territorial waters remain in line with international laws. Mr. Wadha said he hoped a Code of Conducts of the Parties in the East Sea would soon be agreed.
