(VOVWORLD) -President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has described the Martyrs' Temple as a place to perform spiritual rituals and pay tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives to the Fatherland.

President Phuc on Wednesday inaugurated the Martyrs' Temple, which is located on the F Hill, one of 45 relic sites of the Special National Monument of Dien Bien Phu Battlefield.
Mr. Phuc told the inauguration ceremony, which also marked the 68th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7): “The Martyrs’ Temple at Dien Bien Phu Battlefield is of profound political, social and humanistic significance, expressing the affection and gratitude of the Party, State and people of the whole country for the heroic martyrs in Dien Bien Phu, living up to the aspirations of the people, war veterans, revolution contributors, and martyrs' relatives.
"I hope that Dien Bien province will do a good job in managing and preserving this project. Along with Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument, the Martyrs’ Temple at Dien Bien Phu Battlefield is not only a place of traditional education but also a cultural highlight. It is part of a network of historical and cultural relics and scenic spots of the region, promoting tourism, and turning Dien Bien into a socio-economic center of the Northwest region.”
On this occasion, the President called on benefactors to support the program "Shelter of love and social security", contributing to the completion of many social welfare projects in the province. Benefactor donated 70 billion VND (3 million USD) at the event.
Also on Wednesday, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the tree planting ceremony in Dien Bien province in response to a project of planting 1 billion trees.
