Moscow’s Home Affairs Department reported that 200 people involved used weapons, including guns, bats, sticks, and metal bars, and half of them were detained after riot police broke up the fight at the Khovanskoye cemetery in southwest Moscow.
According to the department, the battle was for control over the lucrative businesses of providing burial services.
A cemetery official said people from Russia's North Caucasus regions of Chechnya and Dagestan had attacked migrants from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan working there, attempting to take over their jobs.
Police and National Guard forces have been deployed, with 200 special forces’ servicemen participating in the operation.
