Master plan on Vietnam’s industrial development
(VOVworld) – The Ministry of Industry and Trade held an online meeting in Hanoi on Monday to announce the sector’s master development plan until 2020 with a vision toward 2030. Under the plan, priority will be given to the processing and manufacturing industries, improving Vietnam’s competitive edge, boosting the private sector, achieving international environmental standards and moving towards green technology after 2020. Duong Dinh Gian is Director of the Strategy Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Trade: “The plan aims at developing sectors and products with high added value, export values and combining production with industrial services. We will also focus on developing supporting industries, especially mechanical, chemical, and electronic-telecommunications products to serve industrial production. We aim to develop industries that serve agriculture, the rural areas, national defense and energy- efficient industries”.
Under the plan, industrial growth rate is set to rise to between 6.5% and 7% per year by 2020 and between 7.5% and 8% from 2012 to 2030.
