(VOVworld) – A grand meeting to mark 70^th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day and ceremony to grant the 1^st class Independence Order took place on Sunday in Hanoi.

Over the past 70 years, the sports sector has gained considerable achievements in Vietnam and in the world. Vietnam is always in the top 3 leading countries at every Southeast Asian Games. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam acknowledged the achievement and contribution by the sports sector and asked the sector to continue to develop in terms of both scale and quality in the future: “Keeping fit is a practical activity to contribute to a healthy society. This requires effort and determination. Each person should overcome himself to take exercise regularly, making it a habit. This also helps promote patriotism and raise responsibility to each Vietnamese person”.
