MH17 suspects to be prosecuted in the Netherlands
(VOVWORLD) - Suspects charged with involvement in the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine will be tried in the Netherlands.

Malaysia's Minister of Transport Liow Tiong Lai said a joint investigation team run by Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Ukraine agreed that the prosecution will take place in the Netherlands to ensure compliance with the highest international standards. The trial will take place within the framework of Dutch criminal justice proceedings. Liow said the Dutch legal system grants considerable rights to the victims’ relatives to observe and participate in the proceedings. Cooperation between the investigative agencies will continue during the prosecution phase.
