(VOVWORLD) -Syrian government troops and Russian fighter jets on Monday killed more than 200 IS militants who were on their way to the Syrian city of Deir al-Zor.
Colonel General Sergei Rudskoi of the Russian Military General Staff told reporters that Syrian troops are advancing from three directions to encircle Deir Al Zor city. He said liberating Deir Al Zor will end IS’s presence in Syria.

Lebanon's Hezbollah militia used drones Monday to strike the IS in Syria close to the border with Lebanon. A Hezbollah military media unit said this was the first time Hezbollah has used drones.
