(VOVworld)-The Ministry of Health has called on the entire nation to effectively implement the national strategy on HIV/AIDS prevention and control in order to meet all the set targets by 2030. The call was made at a ceremony in Da Nang city on Sunday to launch 2016 National Month of Action for HIV/AIDS prevention and control in response to World AIDS Day (December 1).

The national strategy calls for a scale-up of HIV testing so that 90% of people with HIV are aware of their infection, 90% of people diagnosed with HIV are linked to antiretroviral treatment (ART) and 90% of those on ART receive treatment resulting in undetectable levels of HIV in their blood by 2020.

“Greater focus should be placed on testing to detect infection cases as soon as possible. HIV carriers are encouraged to visit health facilities for free treatment”, Deputy Health Minister Nguyen  Thanh Long said at the launch ceremony.
