More efforts to repatriate soldiers’ remains

(VOV/VOVworld)- A Vietnamese Government’s Task force group has announced that a meeting to review the repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and specialists killed in Laos and Cambodia during wartime will take place in Hanoi on October 16.  Speaking at a press conference in Hanoi on Wednesday, Colonel Tran Van Minh, Head of the Policy Department at the General Department of Politics says: "The meeting will review the Party, State and people’s responsibilities and paying gratitude to the families of soldiers. We will also thank the people and the parties of Laos and Cambodia who help us in this work".

So far, the remains of more than 30,000 Vietnamese soldiers have been repatriated from Laos and Cambodia since 1994. At present, it is estimated that the remains of over 4,000 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers are still scattered across Laos and Cambodia. Vietnam is making every effort to find and repatriate these remains by 2015.
