(VOVworld) - The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Australian Embassy have hosted a workshop on women participation in National Assembly and People’s Councils. Deputy Minister Nguyen Trong Dam said Vietnam has made solid progress in women advancement, especially in women participation in politics, with more than 24% female deputies serving the 13th National Assembly. The Vice Minister says improvement of women proportion in elected bodies is important indicator in narrowing gender gap in politics: “Gender equality is a long process requiring enactment of  laws and regulations as well as policies to ensure women and children’s equal benefits in social economic development. Women participation in decision making will promote their role in society.”
