More than 1,100 candidates registered to run in upcoming National Assembly election
(VOVWORLD) - 1,136 candidates have registered to run for the 15th National Assembly election scheduled for May, according to Monday’s meeting of the National Election Council.

The Council has also received the dossiers of another 7,495 candidates for the election of People’s Councils at all levels. The National Election Council will gather public feedback from the candidates’ residential areas and organize the third rounds of consultative conferences to finalize the lists.
National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan asked the Council to prepare for different scenarios to deal with COVID-19, food safety, natural disasters, and other issues.
“All complaints and petitions which may arise should be addressed in accordance with law. The Council should inform localities seeking to register for early elections as it is in charge of making decisions on this issue,” she said.
Chairwoman Ngan said preparations for the elections have been made in line with the law and are on schedule.
