(VOVWORLD) - More than 182,000 people have been infected with the novel coronavirus and over 7,000 deaths have been confirmed as of Tuesday morning.

The Covid-19 epidemic has now spread to 163 countries and territories. The EU has become the new epicenter of the pandemic as new cases and deaths in Italy continue to wane.
The number of Covid-19 cases sharply increased this week in Spain, which now has recorded more than 8,700 cases and nearly 300 deaths. According to the Spanish government, there were nearly 1,000 new cases reported in just one day.
France’s Ministry of Health has confirmed more than 6,600 cases and 148 deaths. France recently saw 1,200 new cases and 21 deaths within 24 hours.
More than 6,600 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed so far in Germany, with 13 deaths. Germany has imposed border controls on its borders with Austria, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, and Switzerland.
Iran announced 129 Covid-19 deaths within the last 24 hours, bringing its death toll to more than 850 as of Tuesday morning. Iran has confirmed nearly 15,000 infections.
Malaysia has become the Covid-19 epicenter of Southeast Asia with more than 550 cases of Covid-19 infection.
Several countries in Africa announced their first Covid-19 cases this week, including Tanzania, Somalia, Liberia, and Benin. So far Covid-19 has spread to 31 African countries.
The pandemic is rapidly spreading across the US, which now has reported more than 3,700 cases and 68 deaths.
