(VOVWORLD) - Morocco on Thursday announced the launch of an aid program to support and rehouse the residents of 50,000 buildings damaged in last week's devastating earthquake.

Morocco's King Mohamed VI said the current top priority is ensuring safe housing for people who lost their homes in the earthquake.
The Moroccan Government will provide financial support worth 14,000 USD to each family whose house was completely destroyed.
UNICEF said 100,000 Moroccan children were affected by last Friday’s earthquake, 20,000 of whom lost their home.
The World Health Organization said 300,000 people were affected by the strongest earthquake in more than a century in Morocco, which caused 9,000 deaths and injuries.
